Thankful Thursday

Oh I got such a cool award from Jan's Funny Farm! It is the Gold Card Award, and it is given to bloggers who "are always working to make things better for all cats and doggies". Well...thank you everyone over at The Farm! Despite being a Meezer, I do sometimes make the effort to think of others!

I now must give the award to 5 friends. Four of these friends must be dedicated followers of our blog. One should be a new blogger and live in a different part of the world. Each awardee must link back to whomever gave the award. That sounds easy enough, except it is really hard to just pick 5 friends but here we go.

I can't think of many new bloggers who live in a different country to me that are new to reading my blog - cos I am quite new myself. I guess my pal Texas would be the best match for this category, and he is very helpful in sharing knowledge bout his treatment for lymphoma, so he can have the award!

And for the 4 regular readers I am going to choose the following, but I wish I could choose many more:

Daisy
Parker
Mr Hendrix
Camie's Kitties

I am not sure this should be included in a Thankful Thursday, but I keep seeing my Meowmie looking at the following picture...apparently he is a contender for the position of "Castle's Friend (and subordinate)". He is a healthy 13.5 years old and possibly hard-of-hearing (to be confirmed), he has a scarred nose and a torn ear (not as handsome as me then). Sadly his Meowmie died and he needs a new Forever Home.

I have never met a male cat before so the Meowmies are going to go and suss him out and see if he is a good fit, then they have some long, hard thinking to do. We all still miss Storm terribly and need to reassure ourselves that we are not rushing into anything cos we still feel sad. There's no denying though that I am alone rather alot when they are at work though.

The Meowmies were only considering females for the position of "Castle's Friend (and subordinate)" cos they thought that would be best cos that's what I know, but they have since read that integrations are a tad easier between two males, so they are now considering both sexes for my friend...hmmm, we'll see...!

If you have any experience of integrations, please tell us about them in the comments bit!

Oh he's adorable! Yes we've found that males get along best. Chase and I are bestest snuggle buddies and he and Kaze are play friends but they aren't that loving with each other. The only thing I would make sure is that he's used to other kitties because sometimes that can be an issue if he's not used to other cats. I'm sure you will make great friends with any other kitty though. I don't think you're reacting just to the loss of Storm, but I do think she wouldn't want you to be alone.

He is a very handsome cat. Many males are quite friendly. I think if his human died then he does need a good and loving home and how much more loving could yours be? I hope you like each other!

Congratulations on your award!

I'm sure whoever your meowmies choose will be just right for all of you. That fella does look a bit sad though and needs a good friend.

What a great award! You certainly deserve it!
We miss Storm, too, a lot.
We are so glad your Meowmies are looking for a friend for you. The mancats here seem to be sweeter than the ladycats, not as fussy. Please don't tell the ladycats we said that.

Congratulations to you and to all you gave the award to.

We have found that integrating cats is a mystery. Their personalities are as different as humans' and whatever you think they are going to do, they do the opposite, just to drive you balmy. We know, we do it to Jan all the time!

Castle, that you so much for honoring us with that award. We will try to pick friends to pass it on as worthy as you.

Mom has always had male cats for the most part, and she does think that we tend to get along together more easily. Miss Jade is still hissing and growling a bit, but not as badly as she was (as long as we give her her space.) She just says to take the introductions slowly and let the two of you set your own pace. We do like the look of the male, and he does look like he needs a home with a meowmie that will love him and a brother that will cuddle with him, and another meowmie that will come over and spoil him when she can.

Congratulations on your award.

I hope things work out with a new companion for you. I have always been the only kitty in my house, so mom says she won't bring another kitty inside because of the stress it might cause me (I am almost 13).

Congrats on your award!
That kitty would be very lucky to have a home with you. It may not be a bad idea.
Mom got me very soon after the 'One Who Came Before' crossed the Bridge!! I was living at the Vet office. At first Mom felt guilty that she 'replaced' her cat so soon. Then she realized that I needed a good home too and that Reuben(His name) would approve.
Mom loved me very much, but never forgot Reuben. Now, I am 15 years old!!
I have 2 sisfurs that are 5 years old and we do not get along(too young for me) They do not get along well with each other either :o !
I am an easy going cat. I like quiet and pretty much get along with most anything including other cats.
If you get him,I think it would be OK.Patience and time and maybe things will work :)

Unfortunately I do have a bit of experience with integrations. First with Emil and Mrs. OZ after Anastasia dies, and then with Tintin, after Emil left us.
We all still miss Anastasia and Emil, but I was always better off having company again fast. The maid always wanted to wait longer but I think that is a human thing. Of course the integration between adult cats is a lot harder than between kittens or and adult and a kitten.... Mrs. OZ and I will never play with each other, or socialize - but we are tolerant of each other. And that's good enough because just like that male she need a home, and she's happy now.

Hi Castle! Mommy got the advice to bring a boy kitty home to live with 12 year old Nikki after the 20 year old Karma died. Vet sed boys are more laid back and let the girls take the leed. Mom worried I mite spray but I nefurr has. Boy kitties are more loving too. Nikki still diddint like me much but if I wuz a gurl I'd prolly felt like fiting insted of playing.

You've just gotta pick a male, I have both a male and female as my pet and the male is much nicer than the female! Oh yes I got on with Ramses with in a few days at most, but with Isis it's taken nearly a year for me to really accept her without grumping (which comes so naturally to me!) So purrsonally I'd pick a male every time, after all who understands a mancat better than another mancat!

Castle, congratulations on your award! And thank you for thinking of me, too.

I think the older male kitty is so sweet looking. He seems a little bit sad. I'll bet you could cheer him up!

It's hard to know when to add to the family. When our brother and sister went to the bridge it took a while before Mommy was ready "to get the band back together" (as she says). Also a boy kitty might be easier, Bert and Jake are good chums - I don't really like them all that much most of the time ;-) He sounds like a nice old boy though.

I've never had 2 male cats, so no experience there. But I have to agree with Jan, it depends upon the personalities.

Twice we have had 2 female cats. Always one older, grown, and introducing a female kitten into the household. First time, no problems, they got along good after getting used to each other. This last time, Rascal and Ollie, well it wasn't so good. Rascal is jealous and does not like Ollie. They do get along some of the time, but Rascal still likes to torment Ollie.

I don't believe you're rushing into this. You are giving it a lot of consideration, and it would probably be best for Stormie to have a companion. Good luck with your decision. I know it's very difficult one to make.

Hi Castle ol' buddy! Congrat's on your award. It is much deserved. That is very intriguing about your possible new Meezer-buddy. He looks sad without a forever home. I tagged you for a meme, too!

Hello Castle,
We know how hard this is. I especially know your loneliness, I hope this new guy works out. It is hard but an old guy will be fun to have around.
I find Pierro's antics entertaining but he wants to play all the time and I am just happy to watch.
I do think you should have a snuggle buddy for during the day and he looks like he needs a loving home.
I think about all of you often. I miss Stormie too. I find memories and pictures still make us smile about Caesar.

purrrs always

thank you thank you thank you! i am honored you passed this on to me. i will post it on Monday!

i am an only kitty because of my FIV and, well, frankly because the VET says i don't have the temperment for a sibling.

but, we think your mommy wouldn't be looking if she didn't think it was a good idea for you all. we have heard that introducing males to males is easier.

we think a new friend could keep you company while your mommy works

Hi Castle, I know you are still sad because of darling Stormie's passing, these things cannot be rushed.

Giving love and a home to an older fella who has lost someone dear might be a good way of paying forward the love of Stormie. It could be a very healing thing for you and your Meowmies to do and also another way of honouring Stormie.

I hope he's a good fit, he does look sad in that picture and you being a younger chap might give his spirit a bit of a lift. He might have some interesting tales to tell and some old tricks to teach you too!

I've always found it easier for males to integrate together than introducing females to females. Whatever decision you and the Meowmies come to, I wish you all the best xx

Castle, I'm sorry I'm so late postin this, but I think it's really neat-o yur Meowmies are thinkin about gettin you a buddy. And two male cats do tend to work out furry well from what Momma knows and frum her experience with us Ballicai -- of alla the innerduckshuns that hadded to be done with four of us comin in here one at a time, me and Brainball, the two boys inna family, bonded the furry fastest. Next was Brainball and Dorydoo -- they bonded pretty fast, too, cuz Dory was a kitten. But two boycats oftun beckome furry good furriends and kompanions. Brainball is my bestest furriend.

Lots of love to yur fambly. And kittyhuggies and purrs, too!
